Winchester Mystery House Oddities -

Something strange can be seen around every corner of the Winchester Mystery House. If you thought that was weird, how about a chimney that rises four floors, and doors that open onto blank walls. For more information, visit http://winchestermysteryhouse.com/thehouse.cfm

Winchester Mystery House Furnishings -

Once a room in the mansion was finished, it was furnished quite lavishly as Mrs. Winchester had exceptionally expensive tastes. Discover gold-plated chandeliers, Tiffany art glass windows, German silver-inlaid doors, Swiss molded bathtubs, and lots of mahogany and rosewood. However, while all of these items were delivered to the mansion many of them were not installed right away, In fact, when Mrs. Winchester passed away in 1922, there were rooms overflowing with both boxed and unboxed treasures. Winchester Mystery House Grand Ballroom -

Constructed almost entirely without nails, the Grand Ballroom had cost over $9,000. That's an absurd amount of money when you consider that a house back then could be built for less than $1,000. Highlights include a silver chandelier from Germany and two stained glass windows with quotes from Shakespeare. In keeping with the strangeness of the house, the ballroom was never used for a ball. And after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Mrs. Winchester sealed off the room for good. For more information, visit http://winchestermysteryhouse.com/thehouse.cfm
